This project had its official opening October 2008. It was funded through the Provincial Homelessness Initiative (PHI) and built on land provided by the City of Kelowna. It offers 30 units of supportive housing for adults living with mental health and addictions issues, with the goal of helping them to live independently. The Interior Health Authority provides support services to the men and women who are residents of Cardington Apartments. The four-storey building consists of common and administrative space on the ground floor and 30 self-contained bachelor units on the three upper floors. Arborvitae (Tree of Life), a public art commission by Oliver Harwood and Marie Bortolotto, graces the entrance of the building. The project won a 2008 Gold Tommie Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing and a 2009 OMREB Commercial Building Award for best mixed use project.
