This project was completed through a unique partnership between the Housing Foundation, two levels of government and the developer, Van Maren Construction. It was the redevelopment of a three acre site in southeast Vancouver, which had housed a number of older, inadequate buildings containing affordable seniors units. The three new buildings, occupied in 1993, 1994, and 1995 respectively, provide a total of 126 one and two bedroom units. Lions View I and II were built under the BCHMC and CMHC non-profit housing program. Van Maren Construction developed a market condominium for seniors on the site; income from the sale of condo site was used in funding Lions View III, which provides affordable rental units without government subsidy.
